This emblem represents Ingenjörtrupperna (the Swedish Army Engineer Troops), the branch responsible for military engineering and field works that enable mobility, protection, and survivability in the field. The Engineer Troops became an independent Swedish Army branch on 1 July 1937, and have since played a central role in everything from bridging and route support to fortifications and technical field engineering.
Today, the capability is largely centered around Göta ingenjörregemente (Ing 2), which organizes and trains engineer units with specialist competence to carry out qualified field works for national and international tasks and to support brigades and higher formations in modern operations.
