The Cromwell was the fastest British cruiser tank of WWII, powered by the legendary Rolls-Royce Meteor engine derived from the Spitfire’s Merlin. Entering service in 1944, it equipped British armored divisions during the Normandy campaign and the drive across Northwest Europe. Its speed and reliability made it a favorite among crews, and it remained in British service well into the 1950s.
